Music has always been a huge part of Cecily and my relationship:  we met in our high school band, we’ve gone to countless concerts and festivals and we’ve played at a few open mics over the years. I remember back when we first started dating I spent a full night burning Cec copies of 3 dozen of my favourite albums.  Our life is accompanied by an ever-changing soundtrack that helps us along when we work, drive, cook or dance around like fools.

So this year for Valentine’s we thought it would be fun to put together a little mixtape for you. We call it ‘Life In Love’—12 songs that you’d probably hear if you spent a little time in our apartment.  Many of these tracks take us back to happy memories during our relationship—while others are new or local bands we’ve found recently. We’re hoping there’s at least one song on the list that you haven’t heard before (like ‘My Repair’ by The Noises 10 and Brandi Carlile—we just discovered it this week).

Life In Love - Ambrosia Photography Mixtape 2011

Want to have it a listen? ‘Like’ us on Facebook to hear the playlist. If you still haven’t bought your Valentine a gift then go out and buy an iPod; slap this playlist on it and tie a red bow around it. You can even say you made the mix—we won’t tell! 😉

Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

What Now?

1) ‘Like’ us on Facebook to listen to the mix (the “Life in Love – Mixtape 2011” link is under our profile photo)!
2) If you’re friends are into music, share this post on Facebook and Twitter.
3) Comment to let us know what you think! What songs would you put on your own mixtape?
If you let us know you like this sorta thing, we might together more mixes in the future!

The photo above is one of our engagement photographs taken by our good friend Mikey Valdes.

Carrie and Jesse were referred to us by our close friend Ann.  I remember, before our consultation, Ann let us know that they wanted ‘magazine-style’ photos. The day of our consultation came, and I knew that the ‘magazine-style’ look wouldn’t be hard to pull off with such a great-looking couple.
Fast forward several months and the day of the wedding finally came.  With a fun-loving bridal party and the weather on our side, we had a great day: starting with a first-look session, then portraits at Bridal Falls and finally a quick ceremony and beautiful reception at Minter Gardens.

Carrie and Jesse’s first look.
Carrie helping us out by putting a big smile on Jesse’s face! (Her hairpiece was designed by our friends over at Frilly Bits)

One of my favourite shots is this black and white taken by the fountains in Minter Gardens.

Ann’s masterpiece!

Bouquet toss!

Thanks Carrie and Jesse for having us capture your day—we had a blast getting to know you two! Also, a big thanks to Ann for the great referral =)

Wondering What To Do Now?

Andrea and Jesse are an amazing couple. Looking through these photos, I love how easy it is to see see how much fun they have just being beside each other. Here are just a few images from our session in Granville Island.

Andrea looking very modelesque:

This next one is one of my favourites from the session!

I love the way the the following images worked out: from the way the crane frames them, to the cheerful colours and the contagious smiles.
