In Front Of The Lens: Our Wedding!

For this ‘In Front Of The Lens’, we finally share our own wedding photos with you! Scroll down for a small selection of images from our amazing wedding day.

All of these photos were taken by the ever-talented Leslie and Mark of Sakura Photography, who could not have done a better job capturing the fun! If you want to see tons more of our favourite photos, play the slideshow at the end of this post.

Cecily had a little henna done during her stagette just for fun

Rocking the dress in the lounge at Opus Hotel. You can see why she loved it so much, she looks amazing in it! (Insert whistling here)

I couldn’t help grinning—I guess I was pretty happy =)

Our Maid of Honour holding wildflower bouquets. You can see a bit of henna on her wrist.

We began our wedding party photos on the Stanley Park seawall with a great view of downtown Vancouver at our backs. We started serious…

undefined

…but definitely had a lot of fun!

undefined

We were planning a shot where the autumn leaves would fall around Cec and I. Walter here decided to go all-out collecting ammunition!

undefined

This one would look great as a nice big canvas print in our apartment!

undefined

After Stanley Park, we headed into Gastown. As the light began to fade, Leslie and Mark did a great job of balancing the mixed light sources.

After Gastown we headed into the downtown core. This wall of ivy is near Burrard Street

A cactus, some coloured sand and scrabble letters made for a fun little DIY addition to our sign-in table.

undefined

To compliment the wildflower look we used mason jars as candle-holders and flower vases.

Anna, our closest friend, flew in from Ontario to come to our wedding. As if that wasn’t enough, she and her family made this beautiful wedding cake for us! Thanks Anna!

undefined

To top off an amazing cake, our friend Manny of Moko Branding did a great job of making the exact cake topper we envisioned. He uses lasers to make art for wedding invites, favours, and personalizations like this cake topper. Not gonna lie, I wish my job involved lasers…

Our first dance (“Can I Steal a Little Love” by Frank Sinatra)

Our niece Marie checking out the scene on the dancefloor.

Mikey was busy taking photos on his Leica. This is the man who captured our Bonfire Engagement Photos!

undefined

My mother and our littlest niece, Tiana, on the dancefloor! Check out that amazing tutu Tiana is wearing (her mom made it for her)!

undefined

Jeremy Lim did an amazing job manning the DJ booth. This was his last gig as a DJ, as he’s now making waves in Vancouver’s photography community!

This last photograph is a contender for “favourite image of the day.” We featured it on our thank you cards.

It took a lot of amazing friends, dedicated family member’s and talented vendors to put our wedding together—and we could not have been happier with the day. Thanks to each and every one of you who contributed! We’d also like to say a special thank you to Briana Scott (make-up artist extraordinaire) and Esther Cannon (for bringing her harp to our ceremony).

PS. Cec and I will have been together for 7 years in less than one month! I feel so lucky to have spent almost a third of my life beside the person I love most =)

PPS. Fun fact: When we were dating, Cecily and I celebrated our anniversary every month for over 6 years. Instead of switching anniversary dates when we got married, we’ve taken to recognizing both anniversaries (once on the 17th and again on the 30th). Life is short, celebrate the good stuff!
